The Sadist of Romont, Michel Peiry, could have committed as many as 11 murders the 1980s. He’s been described as the Swiss hitchhiker killer, because of his choice of victim. He picked up teenaged hitchhikers, restrained them, beat them, sexually assaulted them, and then burned their bodies. Some of his victims were burnt alive. When he was arrested he said that he was glad police caught him, because he didn’t think he’d be able to stop otherwise. He even advised the police to make sure he was never released.
