It was after 9pm on Friday night the 13th of July 1984. A family of three from Gothenburg were travelling in the scenic Lapland mountains in the north of Sweden. In the arctic circle, July is time for The Midnight Sun, which means the sun doesn’t set at all. It is bright and light for 24 hours a day. It was late summer, and it had been raining for a couple of days.
When they drove down a side road to take in the scenery of Lake Appojaure, they could never have imagined what awaited them. A grisly discovery was about to change their holiday into a nightmare.
